Frequently asked questions
What Canadian business owners ask us most often about PEOs, payroll outsourcing, and our referral process.
What is a PEO in Canada?
A Professional Employer Organization, or PEO, is a Canadian payroll and HR services provider that manages payroll, source deductions, tax remittance, and some HR functions on behalf of a client business. PEOs specialize in reducing administrative overhead and improving payroll accuracy. Read our PEO Canada overview for a full breakdown of how the model works for Canadian businesses.
What are the three types of PEO?
PEO arrangements in Canada generally fall into three types: administrative services (payroll and remittance only), co-employment arrangements (shared HR responsibilities), and full outsourced employment models. Our referral partner focuses on administrative services and co-employment arrangements for Canadian SMBs. See what is a PEO in Canada for a detailed walkthrough of each model.
How much does a PEO charge per employee?
PEO pricing in Canada varies by provider and scope. Some PEOs charge a flat monthly fee per employee, others charge a percentage of payroll. We do not quote partner pricing on this site. Our referral partner will explain their pricing directly during the assessment. See how it works to understand what happens after you submit a request.
What is the difference between HR outsourcing and a PEO?
HR outsourcing typically covers recruiting, training, and policy support without touching payroll. A PEO integrates payroll administration alongside HR functions and often takes on source deduction, remittance, and ROE filing responsibilities. Understanding what a payroll partner administers starts with the payroll deductions Canada guide. For a direct comparison of the two models, see our PEO vs HR outsourcing guide.
Do you service businesses in Quebec?
Not at this time. Our Canadian payroll partner does not operate under the Quebec provincial payroll regime. We serve businesses in every other Canadian province and territory.
How do you earn money if I am not paying you?
We are an independent referral agent. When you engage the Canadian payroll partner through our referral and become a client, we earn a recurring per-employee commission from the partner. You pay the partner for their payroll services at their published pricing. We are not a financial, tax, or legal advisor. For businesses with CRA compliance concerns rather than payroll outsourcing, see our CRA defense services. Full referral details are in our referral disclosure.
Do you share my information with anyone other than the payroll partner?
No. Your submitted information is used only to determine fit and connect you with our Canadian payroll partner. See our Privacy Policy for the full data handling disclosure.
